After a dream in which I did the very same thing, I got up this morning and made myself an omelette with 2 eggs, salt and cheddar cheese. Ahaha, I even dream about food.
Sure, it's not the most whacked out, unhealthy thing I've ever eaten - not like fried Coke or anything that crazy - but for someone who had been restricting themself to 1 egg a day (...long story, I'll explain one day) 2 eggs is a big step. Actually, wait...not as big a step as the day we went to Mornington and I ate something like 5 of the little bastards.

I folded it into thirds and it ended up being this little thing. :3
Cheese: *oozes*
I added some water so that it would be tender. I don't like looking after things as they cook so sometimes me eggs can get a bit tough. Tough for eggs, that is, so something akin to tofu. Not, you know, rubber.

My father, on the other hand, produced the above monstrosity and kindly asked of me to eat it. What is it, you ask? Very good question. That is his interpretation of what Westerners eat. Diarrhoea, you say? No. 'Soup'/'gruel'/'torture.'
It's a heady mix of sweet potato, unprocessed oats, butter and cream (and maybe some salt - just because Dad seasons stuff like that: sporadically.) Yeah, because Westerners eat butter and cream with everything. Good gods.
I had a bowl. I was obliged to do so. -___-
Let me clarify: Dad cooks wonderfully - he does all the cooking at home. I'm not saying he's some catastrophe in the kitchen but he certainly does have some odd preconceptions. He goes from amazing, mouth-watering dishes to peculiar renditions of something he's had in his mind for a while. Usually it's when he moves from Asian to Western cuisine. Those preconceptions? The weirdest, grossest things. I shan't elaborate but let's just say that he does "Western" dishes like a child who has seen something tasty in a foreign cookbook and is trying to duplicate it using ingredients of a similar colour, texture and his very vivid imagination.

The fallout. ;w;
you made your dad eat the rest of that, I hope xD
ReplyDeletemmmmm, omelette. <333 I tend to mix in quite a bit of milk with mine, so there'll be plenty to eat. >3
